I just wanted to get some thoughts on a couple of MMO's in the works that people may or may not be aware of.

The first one is Star Trek online.  http://www.startrekonline.com/

This will be the first attempt (that I am aware of) to make Star Trek an MMORPG.  It will be made by the same company that brought you City of Heroes and Villains.  I played the CoH when it first came out.  I loved the feel of the game and the really fun abilities you could attain (super jump was about the coolest thing in any game).  Eventually, I lost interest due to a lack of variation in the quests and instances.

I am not much of a Trekker (I think that is the correct term "they" prefer), but I might give this game a try.

Right now, you can create an account and hopefully get in on the beta testing.

The second game is Star Wars: The Old Republic.  http://www.swtor.com/

This will be the second attempt to turn Star Wars into an MMORPG.  The first attempt made by Sony had some early success but did not really sustain the gaming population that was hoped.  Star Wars: The Old Republic is created by BioWare (Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights, DAO, and of course Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic).

I for one am really looking forward to this game.  Like Star Trek Online, you can create an account at the Star Wars site and try for beta testing.

Already, a couple of us have plans of joining the same server for Star Wars.  Anyone else out there interested in these games?
